Last Friday is here, and you don’t won’t to be the one who didn’t show up. Otherwise, how will you know what happened “Las Friday?”
Last Friday Art Walk kicks off at 5:30 p.m Jan. 25 in downtown Maryville. Start your walk at Fine Arts Blount ArtSpace Gallery, the host for January. The gallery is located downstairs of the Harper Building, 301 Church Street. There you can pick up a map of all the participating businesses. Different businesses will act as hosts each month.
Many of the businesses are featuring an exhibit of one or more local artists. Some have music and refreshments for visitors to enjoy. Robinella will be performing at Tomato Head, Doug Harris at Two Doors Down and a variety of local talent at Southland Books.
A total of 15 businesses are participating in the first Last Friday, which will continue through the year. Organizer Katie Gamble with Fine Arts Blount says she hopes the number of businesses will grow even more, although 15 for the first month is considered by most in the arts community to be fabulous participation.
All events are free from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and some businesses are offering free refreshments.
