Dr. Barry Van Winkle presented a program at the January meeting of the Mary Blount DAR on postal history that included letters from the Revolutionary era to the early 1900s. Featured were letters from Texas and Tennessee, including the Blount County area. Chapter vice regent Lynda Williams and Dr. Van Winkle are pictured with part of the collection that includes a letter announcing that former Tennessean Sam Houston was again elected president of the Republic of Texas.
