Tennessee state delegate Peggy Lambert was called on to do the honors as the new officers of the Blount County Republican Women prepared to take office for 2008. The Blount County Republican Women also participated in the state convention, held in Kingsport this year, and helped Donna Hatcher in her bid for state secretary. Hatcher narrowly missed being elected, but was asked to serve on a state-wide committee. New state president is Shirley Ward.
New officers are Mary Gentry, president; Maysel Self, 1st vice president; Bobbie French, 2nd vice president; Fonda Angel, secretary and Nihla McCall, treasurer.
