The Blount County Chapter of the Red Cross is currently accepting nominations for real heroes. These individuals or groups should have shown courage, compassion, and unselfish character in times of emergency.
The nominees must have performed a single act of heroism during calendar year 2007. In order to nominate someone for an award, you must submit a clearly stated, detailed nomination statement describing the reason for your nomination.
The award categories are fire fighter, law enforcement, medical, emergency personnel, adult good samaritan, youth good samaritan (youth under age 21), community impact, animal rescue, and military.
Award nomination forms are available at the Red Cross Chapter House, 1741 Triangle Park and on the Chapter Web site at www.bccarc.org. The winner will be honored at the sixth annual Heroes breakfast during March which is National Red Cross month.
