Alcoa, Maryville leaf collections end next week

The City of Alcoa will end curbside leaf collection the week of Jan. 14-18. All leaves to be collected should be at the street by 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14.

Each street will receive one service during that week. After that service is delivered, any other leaves must be bagged and placed at the curb for collection by the City’s brush trucks. During the City’s Spring Leaf Pickup on March 17-28, the vacuum collectors will again be used for the pickup of loose leaves.

Questions concerning leaf collection or any other Sanitation service may be directed to the Alcoa Public Works Department at 380-4815 or 380-4800.

n The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works Department will perform a city-wide leaf collection beginning early on Monday morning, Jan. 14.

This is a one time pick up and marks the end of the City’s fall leaf collection. Residents are asked to separate leaves from other waste such as brush or bulk and place them in piles in the front but not in a ditch where leaves could clog storm drains.

To ensure that residents don’t miss the collection, the Public Works Department encourages that leaves be racked out to the curb and ready for collection by Jan. 13. City trucks do not back-track into neighborhoods for leaves that are not outside for pick-up time.

Bagged leaves will not be accepted but can be placed outside during the regular monthly brush collection.

A decal on the lid of each city trash container contains more information about the zone collection timeframe. For further details call the Public Works Department at 865-273-3302.
