The Red Hat Jewels Debutantes all gathered at the Martin Luther King, Jr., Center on Friday, Feb. 22, to show off their talents as they count down to the debutante ball.
The Red Hat Jewels presented the 2nd Annual Debutante Talent Show at the center, and all eight debutantes showed not only their talents, but their poise and willingness to stand before a crowd. The center was filled with family and well-wishers, as Arlene Mabrey welcomed guests and Levette Bethea served as mistress of ceremony for the show.
Talents included singing, reading original poetry and praise dances.
Gaynell Ferguson, Queen Mother of the Red Hat Jewels, gave closing remarks and reminded everyone of the upcoming event Saturday at the Airport Hilton. On Saturday, the 2008 debutantes will take center stage in a larger arena as they are presented at the Debutante Presentation and Ball.
Being presented are Jeanisha Walker, Maurissa Watson, Vanessa Mynatt, Natasha Carr, Clarissa McNear, Erica Sankey, Victoria Cook and Kim Prater.
Tickets for the ball are $35 per person or $350 for a table of 10.
