The Blount County Growth Management Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet at the Blount County Public Library.
The committee, composed of citizens and volunteers from throughout the county, will meet at 6:30 p.m. on March 3 at the library.
According to chairman Johnathan Sitzler, the Growth Management Advisory Committee was chosen by the Blount County Commission and charged with researching the potential for transferring or purchasing development rights to preserve land in Blount County.
“We’ve been meeting since June,” he said.
Sitzler said the committee has found multiple funding sources to support a program of this nature. “We’re trying to get as much public feedback as possible before we make a final report to the county commission,” he said. “Essentially, it’s preservation of Blount County.”
