DECA party says fund raising is all ‘Black and White’

There is nothing better to beat the winter doldrums than to get up and dance. Heritage High School DECA club decided four years ago that they could turn their need for money into a party that would accomplish both fund raising and fun.

This year, the fourth annual Black and White Ball transformed the gym at Heritage into a prom-like atmosphere. Elegantly dressed students danced to music that both pounded and pleased. Girls in ball gowns and guys in ties alternately glided and hurdled across the dance floor to the sounds of their favorite tune. DECA representative Amanda Schirtz said they estimated more than 150 showed up for the dance.

DECA (Delta Epsilon Chi) is a high school and college association of students who are studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, marketing sales, service and hospitality.
