The 14th annual Spay Day USA will be Tuesday, Feb. 26. This is a national campaign of the Humane Society of the United States when veterinarians, animal welfare professionals, business owners and citizens join forces nationwide to provide spay/neuter services and to promote spay/neuter as an essential component of good pet health care, as well as an effective and humane means of decreasing the euthanasia of homeless animals in shelters
Since Spay Day USA’s inception in 1995, participants nationwide have altered an estimated 1,387,000 animals.
In conjunction with the national Spay Day USA event, AnimalWorks encourages local pet owners to “be part of the solution to pet overpopulation” and have their pets spayed or neutered. The mission of AnimalWorks is to reduce the homeless pet population in our community. Since its inception in September 2001, AnimalWorks has spayed or neutered over 13,000 animals and found homes for more than 5,000 cats and dogs.
In honor of Spay Day USA, AnimalWorks will enter your name in a drawing for a $50 Wal-Mart gift card if you have your pet spayed or neutered at AnimalWorks during the week of February 25-29.
Grant monies are available to help defray spay/neuter costs to qualified low-income families in Blount County.
AnimalWorks’ spay/neuter clinic is at 3377 Regal Drive behind West Chevrolet off Alcoa Highway.
