Bill Landry brought his videos and stories. Mike Clemmer brought his dulcimer, Dancing Bear brought good food and everyone brought a laid-back, ready to enjoy the evening attitude.
With all that in place, how could the kick-off event for Townsend’s 2nd annual Winter Heritage Festival in the Smokies have been anything but wonderful?
The kick-off at Dancing Bear Lodge was one of the few events that carried a ticket price, as most of the events at Winter Heritage Festival are free. The weekend was filled with storytelling, educational programs, memories and conversations about Cades Cove, music and exhibits. More people came this year that last, according to reports from businesses, which means the new festival designed to be fun, educational and grow business during the winter months is moving in the right direction.
Next weekend, Townsend Love Affair adds another weekend of activities to the community (See story on Page 6).
