Two locations available for caregiver support
The Caregiver Support Group at Blount Memorial Hospital meets at two different locations each month. The group meets every Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. on the hospital’s 3-east floor. The group also meets from 10 to 11 a.m. every first and third Tuesday at the Everett Senior Center at 702 Burchfield St. in Maryville.
The Caregiver Support Group is a free service for any adult who is caring for another adult. There are no membership requirements.

Class in session for joint replacement patients
Blount Memorial Hospital’s “Joint School,” an educational program for people scheduled to undergo total joint replacement surgery, is being offered at the hospital during February. Classes meet from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 13, 20 and 27.
Sessions let participants know what to expect during their total joint replacement experience, and information covers all phases from pre-op to full recovery.

Surgeons host surgical weight loss lectures
In February, Blount Memorial Hospital’s ongoing Surgical Weight Loss Lecture Series features two presentations by Blount Memorial surgeons who will discuss the surgical and laparoscopic treatments of obesity including Lap-Band, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass procedures.
Dr. Mark Colquitt and Dr. Jonathan Ray are the speakers at a presentation at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 and at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 in the Blount Memorial Hospital auditorium. To register for the free community programs, call 865-977-4673 or 866-300-8644.
