After 17 years as the executive director of the United Way of Blount County, friends, community leaders and coworkers honored Sandra Davis in celebrating her career and service during a retirement party in her honor Jan. 30.
The event was held at the United Way of Blount County and friends, family and colleagues showed up from all over East Tennessee to wish Davis well.
In her time as executive director, the county’s population has increased as has the need for United Way services. Her staff grew from two, including Davis, to eight. In that time the campaign goal rose from $800,000 to more than $2 million.
Michelle Hankes has been chosen to take over as executive director. Davis assured friends she wasn’t “disappearing,” and said she plans to spend time with her grandchildren and travel.
