Fairview Methodist to host Financial Peace University beginning Feb. 27 with preview sessions on Feb. 17 at 9:30 a.m. in the church gym, and Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in room A208. The church is located at 2508 Old Niles Ferry Rd. The 13-week, video-driven course will be offered at the church weekly through the end of May. Each two-hour session includes an instructional video led by Dave Ramsey, followed by small-group discussion of that week’s topic. Dave Ramsey’s, Financial Peace University utilizes Biblical principals to help participants eliminate debt, invest for college and retirement and give like never before. Maryville High School orchestra and featured soloists will present their annual Valentine's concert, Sunday, Feb. 10. Concert times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church Maryville. Gourmet desserts & coffee will be served. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased at the door or in advance from any Maryville High School orchestra student.

Used book/media sale hosted by Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Relay for Life Team, The Freedom Fighters, will be Feb. 8 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Feb. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Guest Welcome Area. The Chilhowee View Community Center will hold a Country Breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 7 to 9 a.m. Pancakes, ham, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, and coffee are on the menu. Suggested donations are $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. All donations are used to maintain and operate the Community Center which is located at 3229 Wilkinson Pike.

Blount County Beekeepers Association will have a short course for beginning beekeepers on Monday Feb. 11 and Tuesday Feb. 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Blount County Public Library in the Sharon Lawson room. The course is free and will cover personal protective equipment, equipment needed to get started in beekeeping, where to set up an apiary, and when and where to get bees. Fairview United Methodist Church -- will hold their annual dessert bar and auction on Friday, Feb. 29, to raise funds for their summer mission tour to Chicago. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the dessert bar and silent auction, and the live auction will begin at 6:45 p.m., with professional auctioneer Robbie Franklin. The auction will include many items donated from the community, such as zoo and aquarium tickets, passes to Biltmore, and tickets to sporting events such as Smokies baseball and Icebear Hockey games. Area 15 Special Olympics Basketball event held at Heritage High School on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be special athletes, a pep band, color guard, announcers, cheerleaders and more.

Widows Support Group will meet Saturdays, Feb. 9, 16 and March 8, 15 and 22 at St Paul Lutheran Church located at 429 Sandy Springs Road in Maryville. These are nondenominational meetings. Blount County Theater Group -- is looking for actors and actresses of all ages and types in the Blount County area who are interested in forming a new theatrical group to help provide high quality entertainment in the Blount County area. Maryville’s weight loss surgery support group -- meets at 10 a.m., the second Saturday of each month, at Pellissippi State College Library in Maryville. The Joshua Resource Center -- is enrolling participants for the New Beginnings CWJC program.
