Blount Motorsports to campaign a Rocket Chassis

When Blount Motorsports heads to Volusia Speedway Park in February for the DIRTcar Nationals there will be a couple of firsts for the Maryville-based Dirt Late Model team. It will be their first trip to race at Volusia Speedway Park and it will be the first outing for their new GW Performance Rocket Chassis.

“We were able to work a deal with Gary Winger for a Rocket Chassis by GW Performance Parts and are looking forward to taking it to Florida during the DIRTcar Nationals,” said Tommy Kerr driver of the BMS 4t. “We realize what we will be up against down there, but we feel that it is a good place to shake the car down and get it ready for the season.”

To open their season the team will compete at Golden Isles Speedway in the SuperBowl of racing. Their plans call for running the Rayburn Chassis for six of the 10 nights of racing before going back to the shop and putting the finishing touches on the Rocket.

The team has been busy during the off-season working on their over all program. A trip to the Performance Racing Industry Show and testing at area race tracks has opened up a number of new avenues for the team.

“We are pleased to have been able to reach an agreement with Gary at GW Performance Parts on the Rocket Chassis,” said car owner Larry Garner. “We are proud to announce that Larry Clark at Custom Race Engines will again be giving us the power we need this year. Plus we have also added TWM, Butlerbilt and a number of companies to the list of those that we will be working with and using their products. We are very excited about the upcoming season.”

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Blount Excavating, Stowers Machinery Corp., Kelso, Realty III, Turner Industrial Supply, GEOServices, Cast Stone, Wine and Spirits Cellar, Insurance Partners, and Murphy’s Bobcat. Tommy races a GW Performance Rocket and or a Rayburn race car with power from Custom Race Engines, Öhlins Shocks from SHY Suspension, chassis and suspension components from TWM and seats from Butlerbilt.
