It was evident at the $10 Club Christmas Party that everyone was having a great time. The food, drink and fellowship at Preservation Plaza made for a great party atmosphere as friends caught up on holiday happenings and family comings-and-goings.
What wasn’t quite as evident was the generosity of the party-goers. The Silent Auction and Live Auction brought in more than $6,000 this year for the charities the $10 Club supports throughout the year.
One of just a couple of fundraisers for the club, the success of the Christmas party was very important, said Kay Overbey, a past chair and one of the $10 Club organizers. Overbey said that now, when times are harder, is when the calls for help begin to increase. Becky Swann was head-planner of the party. Members donated items for the two auctions and Doug and Teresa Horn donated the use of Preservation Plaza for the event.
