Illumination brings Christmas to the Greenbelt Park

Christmas came to the Bicentennial Greenbelt Park Dec. 8 when hundreds gathered to celebrate the Illumination of the Greenbelt.

A 30-foot tall Christmas tree was lighted when new Maryville mayor Tom Taylor and new Vice Mayor Andy White symbolically turned on the switch officially illuminating the tree at Pistol Creek Station. Radio personality Walker Johnson read the story of Jesus’ birth from the book of Luke. Activities for children, Christmas music, cookies and hot drinks made for a good atmosphere to the holiday event.
