East Tennessee Medical Group (ETMG) received the 2008 TECHMED Award for its outstanding use of patient care technology and its innovative use of electronic medical records (EMR) in its practice.
The award encourages the use of information technology by physician practices and the sharing of that methodology to improve patient care in East Tennessee.
“The technology is the service to the patient,” explained Ron German, CEO of ETMG. “With charts, someone has to locate it, thumb through it, and take the time to call the patient back. With EMR, the nurse can bring it up on the screen, can email the doctor, and get immediate feedback. Getting copies of electronic medical records is just so much easier, improving the service to patients.”
The TECHMED Award is sponsored by East Tennessee Medical News, Saratoga Technology, Erlanger and Mountain States Health Alliance, and Mercy Health Partners. The entries were independently judged by the Northeast Tennessee Technology Council.
East Tennessee Medical News featured a front page story on ETMG’s technological prowess in its November issue. ETMG also receives one of 20 technology assessments by Saratoga Technology worth $3500. The technology assessment is a comprehensive report studying ETMG’s entire technology infrastructure, along with a face-to-face meeting in which Saratoga Technology goes over the report in detail.
East Tennessee Medical Group is Blount County’s most comprehensive physicians’ organization, with more than 50 physicians and allied health professionals, supported by state of the art technology and staff, dedicated to your family’s health.
