On Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m., Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation held a Site Dedication Ceremony at the property just off Currie Avenue in Rockford where the planned Animal Care Center will be located.
This event was to signify the progress made to date on the construction of the new Blount County Animal Care Center. There were many local community leaders on hand to mark the occasion along with several animal rescue groups.
Some of the dogs in the care of rescue groups also made their marks as well by symbolically putting their paw prints in the concrete foundation.
Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation is a non-profit organization actively working and raising funds to assist Blount County through the process of building the new animal center. Their goal since forming in early 2007 has been to erect a state-of-the-art, all access animal center, which will be welcoming to the public and humane for the animals.
