When Denise Evans decided to participate in the national fundraiser Cuts for the Cure to help raise funds and awareness of cancer, she thought big.
Soon, her ideas were so big that LaNese, her posh spa and salon, couldn’t hold her plans.
No problem. Denise just opened the doors of her business at 415 S. Washington Street and claimed the whole outside to help with a worthy cause.
Cuts for the Cure benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. By the time the Cuts for the Cure day in October rolled around, Denise and her fellow business owners at the Washington Street mall had an entire carnival planned, with food, jewelry, activities for the children, live music and a visit from the Texas Roadhouse Andy Armadillo. And, of course, haircuts, nail and spa treatments inside LaNese.
The funds raised on that October Sunday totaled more than $4,000.
