Blount Memorial Foundation golf tourney is successful celebration

Remember September? The weather was warm, and the greens were -- well, green -- when the Blount Memorial Foundation held its annual golf tournament, The Classic. Blount Today was there, but hasn’t been able to shoe-horn in the photographs until now.

So the golfers in short sleeves and shorts aren’t crazy. It was a beautiful, warm late September day and the number of golfers in both the morning and afternoon rounds gave tribute to this ever-popular tournament and fundraiser for the Foundation.

The tournament was held at Egwani Farms Golf Course in Rockford. Proceeds raised at the event support Foundation and hospital programs for the uninsured and underserved in the community.

Prizes were awarded for Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Longest Putt, Closest to the Line and Best Poker Hand. Golfers could enjoy breakfast, lunch and an awards reception buffet.
