SMARC offers free rowing classes

Smoky Mountain Rowing Club (SMRC) is offering a free Discover Rowing class from 9 - 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, to introduce non-rowers to the sport of rowing and rowing club.

The class is held at the SMRC boathouse located at 3498 Rankin Ferry Loop at Lashbrooke Nursery in Louisville. The two-hour class is led by SMRC coaches and members of the club’s masters program. Discover Rowing participants learn about the history of rowing and are instructed on basic rowing terminology, physiology and technique. Participants will also receive on-the-water instruction and how to practice rowing technique using an ergometer.
