SKIT Productions holding auditions for the musical “A Christmas Carol”

SKIT Productions Musical Theatre Performing Arts School, Inc. (507 Ellis Ave., Maryville) invites the community to join them for their production of A Christmas Carol – The Musical! Charles Dickens’ famous tale about the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge will be brought to life through singing and dancing set in the streets, homes, workhouses, and graveyards of Victorian-era London, all guided by the three ghosts who lead Scrooge to review and reevaluate his life: the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. In the process, Scrooge will learn powerful lessons about his impact on the lives of others, especially Bob Cratchit and his crippled son, Tiny Tim, who are poor in material things, but rich in the love they share. Memorable characters include Young Marley, Ebenezer’s business partner and only friend; Scrooge’s nephew, Fred Anderson, and his family; Emily, the girl Young Ebenezer was to have wed; and Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig, whose annual Christmas Ball is filled with the merriment of the season. There are many adaptations of A Christmas Carol out there, but this is the one only true Broadway version!

The company is looking for one boy and one girl (ages 7-11), five other children (ages 10-12), and 25 to 30 various Principal and Ensemble roles (ages 8 and above, including adults, teens, and children) to portray bankers, creditors, carolers, pantomime girls, merchants, gravediggers, street urchins, factory workers, charwomen and angels. This is a special community theatre project in which everyone in the community is invited to participate in joining us for this Christmas presentation (including those in surrounding areas). Everyone who auditions will be cast for this production, and all participants will be placed accordingly by the Director. Anyone who is interested in building sets, props, or behind the scenes work is also invited. Be prepared to get into the Christmas spirit while having the time of your life!

Participants can prepare a vocal selection of their choice and provide CD accompaniment, sing acapella, or present a 2-3 minute monologue. Please provide a head shot. No previous theatre experience is necessary. If you do not have theatre experience, please come anyway and meet the Director for placement in this production. Auditions are for new members who are currently not enrolled in our Performing Arts School.
