Serving up tasty samples of their most popular menu items, over 20 restaurants and gourmet food and beverage vendors will be joined by artists and musicians at the Seventh Annual Taste of Blount County, scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, in downtown Maryville.
Tickets go on sale today and cost $20 for members of the Blount Chamber of Commerce, $25 for the general public and $15 for college students with valid identification and children 17 years old and younger. A limited supply of all-you-can-eat tickets may be purchased at the Blount Chamber, which is located at 210 S. Washington St., Maryville.
This year's theme is "The Art of Food," explains Meredith Liemohn, co-chair of the event who notes that the popular event has grown to include exhibits of artwork by members of Fine Arts Blount and music from Swanks Jazz Restaurant and Bar. The event is hosted by the Blount County Chamber and the City of Maryville.
Participating restaurants include Aubrey's Restaurants, Chile's Grill & Bar, Domino's Pizza, Foothill's Milling Company, Honey Baked Ham, Lemon Grass Thai Cuisine and Sushi Bar, Lenny's Subs, McAlister's Deli, Panera Bread, Peerless Restaurant, Sweet Celebrations, The Miles Family 411 Restaurant, The Oaks Dining Room & Bar, The Palace Café & Uptown Catering, and The Tomato Head.
Other vendors include Aqua Clear Water Systems, Candy Bouquet, Food City, Foothills Catering, Marble Slab Creamery and Vienna Coffee Company.
Each of these participating organizations will offer samples and favorite selections from their menus. Diners can choose from prime rib, sirloin shish-kabobs, filet bites, grilled seafood, crab cakes, spiced lamb, fajitas, pizza, sandwiches, sushi, salads, a wide assortment of appetizers, desserts, coffees and much more.
Soft drinks will be provided by EZ Stop Food Marts, and water will be provided by Alcoa, Inc. Out of Eden Garden Center will ensure a festive atmosphere with seasonal decorations.
As in the past, this year's Taste of Blount will take place on the top level of the Broadway Parking Garage in downtown Maryville. In the event of rain, the event will move to the great hall in Saint Andrews Episcopal Church on Broadway in Maryville.
Fine Arts Blount will feature artwork in nearby Preservation Plaza, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Contributing artists include Katie Gamble, Pam Brockman, Bruce Busey, Kim Slater, Keith Elrod, Norma Reigle, Diann Lewis-Bishop, Cathleen Wermuth, Lyn Cherry, Katie Kinney, Bill Womac and Sallie Macy.
Ticket-holders are invited to vote for best of show in several food categories and in the art category.
