Emily Barger, the featured child for the Children’s Miracle Network in 2007, and Maddie Harrill both lost their battle with a rare form of childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma during the summer of 2008. It is a form of cancer that only affects children.

Emily and Maddie’s parents were both from Madisonville, in Monroe County. Both children suffered from this cancer at the same time.

They received tremendous care and relief from the doctors and staff of East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. The Oncology Department provides special care to children and their families dealing with cancers. We want to be a part of helping families in these situations. Sponsorship Opportunities are available. Just call 865-982-2066 for sponsorship, donation or registration opportunities.

The general membership meeting for the BCAR will be held on Aug. 27, at 9 a.m., at O’Charley’s in Alcoa.
