Cancer survivors are encouraged to join the hundreds of American Cancer Society teams and individuals who will celebrate winning the fight against this disease at Relay For Life of Blount County on Friday, June 6, at Maryville College.
“Relay For Life is an opportunity for our community to celebrate our cancer survivors, their lives and their fight, as well as provide support for survivors’ families and caregivers,” said Carolyn Forster, a local Relay For Life committee member.
Cancer survivors will be recognized during Relay For Life’s opening ceremony with medallions. They will also receive goody bags and T-shirts, and kickoff the 12-hour event with the first walk around the track. A separate tent will be available exclusively for survivors and their caregivers with snacks and more.
Registration for survivors begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6 at Maryville College just prior to the Relay For Life start at 6 p.m.
“We hope to have the biggest survivor celebration this year,” Forster said.
American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is supported by thousands of volunteers, organizations and businesses who truly make a difference. Join this caring group of leaders as they celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and help fight back against this deadly disease.
Relay For Life is an annual overnight community event where individuals and teams camp out, barbecue, dance, have fun and take turns walking around an illuminated track relay-style to raise funds to fight cancer.
