Hearts and Hands announces scholarship

The Hearts and Hands Scholarship Fund has been awarding scholarships to Townsend students pursuing higher education since 1994. This year, they are announcing the establishment of the Dorothy Story Scholarship.

Dorothy Storey is one of the founders of Hearts and Hands. Over the last 14 years she has devoted time and energy to its success. The scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000, and will be in addition to the regular Hearts and Hands Scholarship awarded. Its purpose is to recognize a student who has contributed to the community in some way and whose future goals demonstrate a desire to continue that commitment.

Since its inception in 1994 , a total of $92,400 has been given to Townsend students. Last year, 15 scholarships were awarded raging from $500 to $800 each. All Townsend residents attending regionally accredited colleges or vocational schools are eligible to apply. Applications and information about the scholarship is available at www.heartsandhandsfund.org or call Susan Pasquini at 865-448-1942.
