Time to be pampered

LaNese’ gives patrons their personal space

A new salon is bringing European hair care products and quality pampering to downtown Maryville.

LaNese’ opened April 11 on Washington Street beside Firehouse Subs.

The salon and spa is owned by Denise Evans and her husband, Maryville attorney Lance Evans.

Denise Evans said she and her husband started negotiations in September and started construction on Oct. 20. While the interior and exterior of the new business appears spotless, that wasn’t the case when they first saw the facility.

“We built it up from nothing. Firehouse Subs was the first tenant. We both had gravel on the floor. I dragged 50 people in here and asked, ‘Can you see it?’ I said this is where it’s going to be. There were no windows and nothing but gravel,” she said.

Evans’ husband Lance Evans didn’t see much in the unfinished storefront either. “He couldn’t see it either. He walked in and looked at it and said, ‘Ok, if this is where you think this should be.’ I told him I thought Maryville needed an exclusive salon. People were tired of driving to Knoxville. They wanted quality service,” she said.

Evans said every product line at the salon is rated either one, two or three in the world. “We’re bringing all new products. No one else in Blount County has our products, and 95 percent are from Europe, mostly Italy,” she said. “One of our product lines actually makes our product as we order it from fresh fruit, essential oils and vegetables, so it takes 10 days for them to make it and ship it here from Hungary.”

The salon has 22 on staff, including 11 hair designers. “We have some with 24 or 25 years of experience who trained with the best,” she said. “We have two of the best nail techs you can find. The spa manager is from Massachusetts where she worked for some of the top salons.”

The salon has a reflexologist and also offers massages, scrubs, wraps and peels, hair and nail service.

The booths that line the main aisle have everything so that customers are in their own space. “We’re the only place where they don’t have to leave their personal pamper room for anything. Everything is brought to them - fruit, tea, wine. You’re pampered from the time you come in to the time you leave. It’s all about customer service.”

Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday and Thursday have extended hours with closing at 9 p.m. “That’s for folks who work. They can get off work, go home and still get service done,” she said. For more information, call 865-233-1035 or visit www.lanesesalon.com.
