Shimmura named DENSO Manufacturing president

Atsuhiko “Art” Shimmura has been named DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee’s sixth president, effective April 2, succeeding Masahiko “Mack” Hattori, who has been president since 2004 during several years of continuing company growth. Hattori guided the automotive technology supplier through increasing sales, capital improvements and stable employment.

He will continue his career at DENSO Corporation, DENSO’s headquarters in Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan, which has operations in 32 nations.

Shimmura previously was human resources coordinator from 1989 to 1995. During that time in Maryville, he was featured in Southern Living magazine in an article, “Bridging Cultures,” focusing on Japanese men working in the South.

“It is my goal to continue the company’s growth and make the Maryville location the very best of all DENSO overseas affiliates,” he said. “Credibility is a key to all DENSO activity. Our associates have created a reputation for the highest quality products in the automotive industry.”
