Hit the footlights: Foothills Fall Festival seeks local entertainers

The City of Maryville will hold the annual Foothills Fall Festival on Oct. 10 - 12 this year and is looking for performers from Tennessee to fill the opening slots.

Genres that will be included in the lineup are bluegrass, country, gospel or contemporary Christian and rock. “The opportunities for local performers are endless including performing in front of a large audience, a hometown built in fan base, as well as experiencing a first class entertainment production and gaining exposure to record label executives and entertainment professionals. It is a great experience for our local talent,” said Jane Groff, city of Maryville events coordinator.

Entertainment applications received after booking ended for last year’s festival will be considered along with applications received through April 30, 2008. The festival’s newly organized entertainment committee will choose the entertainers based on a number of factors, including vocal and instrumental talent as well as stage presence and ability to entertain.

Priority will be given to applications from the state of Tennessee. Requirements for consideration are: a CD of work, a biography that includes performing experience, and a YouTube or similar link (a video clip mailed with application is also acceptable.)

The address is Foothills Fall Festival - Entertainment, 404 W Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37801. Selected entertainers will be notified by May 12.

In its ninth year, the Foothills Fall Festival, located in downtown Maryville, is renowned for its world class entertainment at Theater in the Park, juried Arts and Crafts Show on Broadway, the 16-acre Children’s Adventure Land in the award winning Greenbelt Park and a wide variety of food vendors throughout the festival. All areas of the festival, except the Theater in the Park, are free of charge. Theater in the park is considered one of the best entertainment values in the country - three days, 18 concerts, for one low price.
