The Maryville College Scots fell to NCAA Division II Carson Newman College on Tuesday evening by the score of 16-3. The Eagles (33-12) scored three runs in the first inning.
Division III Maryville (12-20) stormed back in their half of the first with three runs, highlighted by Jason Lambert’s team leading fifth homerun. C-N pulled away by adding a four run inning in the second, a three run effort in the third and a five run stint to finish their scoring in the seventh.
Maryville’s nine hit attack was highlighted by Nathan Nehf, Zac Hargett, and Ben Peters, each going 2-for-4. The Eagles posted a 19 hit attack that featured Langdon Potts and Nick Achberger each going 4-for-4.
Maryville will return to action on Friday when they host GSAC rival and nationally ranked Piedmont College in a three game series. Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
