Ready for Foolies

Preview party gets visitors in mood for Saturday’s fun

Deputy “Barney Fife” was there to keep the peace and members of the 2008 April Foolies committee and cast were there to stir things up. Pistol Creek Catch of the Day provided a musical interlude to tie all the shenanigans together.

Such was the scene Tuesday night as the April Foolies committee and friends brought the 2008 show’s preview party to Sullivan’s restaurant and the streets of downtown Maryville.

Barney, also known as actor Sammy Sawyer, was on patrol and eliciting plenty of laughter during the April Foolies Preview Party.

Each year a few days before the show a few members of the April Foolies committee host a preview party with performers to show members of the public what to expect during the main event. The party always entertains and brings plenty of smiles to people’s faces.

April Foolies, now in its fifth year, is a community talent show fund-raiser for New Hope Children’s Advocacy Center and United Way’s Success by Six. The event is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Alumni Gym on the campus of Maryville College. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Tickets are available at New Hope, United Way and Dandy Lions Gifts, while supplies last.
