Maryville College Harvest Craft and Bake Sale -- is Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Cooper Athletic Center on campus. The proceeds from the sale provide college scholarships for Blount County students. Almost 50 vendors are expected, and alumni and friends are preparing cakes, pies, breads and cookies for the bake sale. Items for sale in the craft area include jewelry, handblown glass, pottery, scroll-saw wood items, floral arrangements, Chinese calligraphy, quilts and afghans, photography and original artwork, candles and handmade soaps. First Apostolic Church of Maryville Trunk ‘n Treat -- invites the community to a night of free fun and activities in a safe environment Wednesday, October 31 at 7 p.m. Plenty of candy and treats will be offered at the Trunk ‘N Treat area located in the back parking lot near the school building. Car trunks will be decorated for the season. Free food and refreshments will be served, with live music and singing representing a variety of musical genres. Pastor Kenneth Carpenter will teach a Bible lesson in the church sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. for those not participating in the Truck ‘N Treat festivities. Montvale Elementary School -- Community Fall Festival is Friday, October 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.. Fun for the entire family with a dunking booth, silent auction, food, rummage sale, cake walk and more. Everyone is invited.

Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center -- is taking tax deductible minimum donations of $10 for Ball of Hope Holiday Ornaments. All are one- of-a-kind ornaments, painted by volunteers of the center and supporting the efforts to help the victims of child abuse. Each one is individually boxed with a hand-tied bow and ready for giving.

Blount County Business Women’s Luncheon -- Kelly Rose’s topic will be “Caution - Holidays Ahead!” She will give tips to increase the enjoyment of Christmas and the holiday season. Lunch is Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. catered by Subs & Such. The cost is $7. Registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 9. WBHS Cheerleaders -- Chili Tailgate on Friday, Oct. 25 from 6 - 7:15 p.m., before the WBHS vs. Bradley Central football game inside the stadium, near the GOV House. Chili, cornbread or all the fixings for chili pie and drink are included for $5. All proceeds go to the William Blount High School Cheerleaders to help pay for uniforms. VFW – John J. Duncan Sr. Memorial VFW Post 10855 is open to all Blount County residents who are veterans of foreign wars. The post meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the basement of Praise Temple Assembly of God Church, corner of Hunt Road and Wright Road in Alcoa.
