Registered nurse Dawn Hollaway, program coordinator for the Blount Memorial Diabetes Management Center, now is certified as a diabetes educator.
Hollaway has been employed at the hospital for three years and was recently named program coordinator of the Diabetes Management Center. She is the 2007 recipient of the Regional Cooperative for Professional Nurses’ Week award for clinical excellence.
To achieve certified diabetes educator status, Hollaway successfully completed the certification examination for diabetes educators, along with other professional practice experience requirements.
CDE credentials demonstrate a specialized knowledge that promotes quality of care for people with diabetes. Hollaway is one of 15,000 diabetes educators who hold the CDE credential.
