Due to a history of standing-room-only crowds, this year Pellissippi State Technical Community College will present two performances of its Dec. 4 Holiday Spectacular.
Bill Brewer, director of the annual Holiday Spectacular musical event, says community response in the past few years has been phenomenal.
To meet the demand, two showings of the Ninth Annual Holiday Spectacular are scheduled. One show will be at at 6 and the other at 8 p.m. Each show will last about an hour and 20 minutes.
The event will take place in the Performing Arts Center on the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road.
Brewer, associate professor of music, says he is predicting a 100 percent chance of snow at both performances.
“The setting will be beautiful and wintry with Christmas trees, wreaths, poinsettias and festive lights that change with the mood of each piece,” he said.
“This is our showcase, the premier event of the year, and we’re planning an event the audience is really going to enjoy. And yes, I do guarantee we’ll have a little bit of snow.”
The 135-member Holiday Spectacular cast is made up of two student choral ensembles and a faculty-staff choir, a brass ensemble, a guitar ensemble, a harp ensemble and a jazz band, along with a dance class at Pellissippi State.
The concert is free, but the Pellissippi State Foundation will accept donations to the Music Scholarship fund.
