A former Blount County Sheriff’s deputy who resigned Nov. 6 was arrested five days later on a drug-related charge.
Angela Beth Thompson 34, Dixon Road, Maryville, resigned on Nov. 6. She was arrested by earlier this month was arrested Nov. 13 with obtaining drugs by fraud.
Thompson was arrested by members for the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force at 8:40 p.m. Nov. 13 at an unspecified location. Blount County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Marian O’Briant said Thompson resigned from the sheriff’s office. The veteran deputy cited “personal reasons” for her resignation, O’Briant said.
Thompson was a former K-9 officer. The former deputy also was a decorated officer.
