Fine Arts Blount is celebrating Artspace Gallery, its new home and exhibit space, with monthly breakfast receptions to introduce friends and different Blount County groups to the gallery.
On Friday, Nov. 16, members of the Newcomer and $10 clubs were invited to come to 302 E. Church Street in the lower level of the historic Harper Library building and former home of the Blount County Chapter of the American Red Cross, to see the newest exhibit and enjoy an impressive breakfast buffet.
The gallery offers a wide variety of work from Blount County artists and FAB members, from oils to jewelry to ceramic sculpture to fiber works. In addition to the gallery, classes are held at Artspace, with two already scheduled for December and more being planned for the winter.
On Saturdays, Dec. 1 and Dec. 15, Diane Bishop will lead an art class for children from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $35 per child. Call Diane Bishop at 980-9429 to sign up.
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, Gloria Nelson will teach a class in painting an Old World Santa. Cost is $15 for FAB members and $20 for non-members. Call 983-5360 to sign up.
Artspace Gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.
FAB is a non-profit group of Blount County artists who strive to encourage high standards and excellence in the visual arts, supply exhibit venues for Blount County artists, host Artreach education programs and work with community youth in volunteer art projects.
