The Eagle X-Games at Maryville Intermediate School was a tremendous success. The celebration around the success was almost equal to the event itself.
The goal for the school’s only school-wide fund raiser was $30,000. Students busted through that goal to the tune of $31,000 and celebrations included teachers, principals and others making good on challenges of Sumo wrestling and other events.
For a dozen students, however, the success also meant skipping cafeteria food, jumping in a limo and having lunch at Aubrey’s restaurant, courtesy of Aubrey’s and Blount Today.
The students and their chaperones enjoyed everything from steaks to chicken fingers to salads at Aubrey’s, split a few desserts and got back in their limo for the ride back to school. The limo, from Twin Lakes Limo, was a bus-style limo, complete with party lights, DVDs, leather couches and snacks.
Winning the limo ride were Katherine Siprelle, Caitlin Jordan, Tyra Brown, Graysen McConnell, Rain Campbell, Isaac Edmiston, Morgan Pekala, Carter Cooley, Christopher Stephens, Parker Phillips, Reece Nelson and Adam Earley. Christopher Stephens brought in the most money in the fundraiser.
The Eagle X-Games is sponsored by the MIS Parent Teacher Cooperative. It consists of seven events including roller-blading, soccer kick, walking and jogging, Frisbee toss and free-throws. The team in each grade level that raised the most money received a trophy and a pizza party. Money is raised through pledges and donations.
