Smith Funeral and Grandview Cemetery community Christmas programs

Smith Funeral and Cremation Service and Grandview Cemetery announce community Christmas programs to support the Blount County Empty Pantry Fund. This tradition began many years ago and has produced over $70,000 for the Empty Pantry Fund. Don Gibson and his staff at Smith Funeral and Cremation Service report that this year marks the funeral home’s 27th year helping them through the Memorial Christmas Tree program. For those who make a donation at Smith’s to the Empty Pantry Fund, a memorial Christmas ornament bearing a loved one’s name will be placed on one of the Memorial Christmas trees at Smiths. This program is open to the entire community and is not limited to those who have used the services of Smith Funeral and Cremation Service. Gibson invites everyone in Blount County to participate.

Lee Chambers and the staff of Grandview Cemetery invite everyone to participate in their 16th annual Christmas Candlelight Tribute on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 6 until 8 p.m. Candles will be placed on the graves of those families who make a donation at the cemetery to the Empty Pantry Fund in memory of a loved one. The candlelight tribute is a perfect way to memorialize loved ones during the holiday season. Contact the cemetery office before Nov. 27 to make a donation.

There will be a reception following the Candlelight Tribute at the Life Event Center from 6 to 8 p.m. adjacent to Smith Funeral and Cremation Service. Please join us for refreshments, seasonal music and a complimentary holiday gift from the Flower Shop, Inc.
