Parking money supports Good Neighbors, Food Connection

The men of New Providence Presbyterian Church turned parking lots full of cars into cash for two Blount County charities.

The New Providence Presbyterian Men gave more than $750 they collected by operating a parking lot for the Maryville-Rhea County football playoff game Nov. 9 to Good Neighbors of Blount County.

The men had previously designated all proceeds from each Friday’s parking to be given to the financial assistance program which is a ministry of the Blount County Ecumenical Action Council. Ed Best Jr., chair of the church’s parking group, said $761 was raised and sent to Good Neighbors.

Best said the NPPM will again provide parking this Friday night, Nov. 16 for the Maryville-Knoxville West game. They plan on donating the money raised to Community Food Connection of Blount County. The Food Connection, organized in 1991, feeds an average of 885 families each month.
