Local picture framer places second, elected VP

Keith Elrod, owner of K & M Gallery, Maryville, recently competed in a professional picture framing competition conducted by the Professional Picture Framers Association in Louisville, KY. Custom picture framers throughout Kentucky and Tennessee were given reproductions of the same art work to frame.

Elrod placed second with very high scores and nearly took first place. He now advances to the international competition to be held in Las Vegas, NV the first week of February, 2008, at the annual convention of the PPFA. These competitions test the framers skills in all areas including design, creative uses of materials, preservation techniques and craftsmanship.

As part of the competition weekend events, the KY/TN chapter of PPFA held its annual election of officers. Elrod was elected Vice President for 2007-2008.

Elrod is one of a small number of picture framers in Tennessee who have passed a rigorous certification exam conducted by the PPFA, giving him the title of Certified Picture Framer®. Elrod can be reached at K & M Gallery, LLC, 865-977-9441. The gallery website is www.kandmgallery.com.
