Drain covers valued at more than $4,000 stolen

About $4,100 worth of cast iron drain covers were reported stolen from Alcoa and Maryville streets recently.

In Alcoa, an employee of Sharp Contractors reported at 11:49 a.m. on Nov. 2 that eight of the covers had been stolen from a construction site in the St. Ives subdivision in Alcoa. The eight storm drain covers were valued at $2,000.

On Nov. 2 at about 1:40 p.m., a City of Maryville street maintenance employee reported covers had been stolen from Fred Lawson Road.

When an officer responded to the scene, several covers were missing. The officer reported that a total of seven cast iron catch basin lids were missing from storm drains on the street.

When an employee of Maryville Public Works responded, the officer reported that two additional covers had been stolen from the Holland Springs subdivision the previous night. The seven missing covers on Fred Lawson Road had an estimated value of $2,100.
