Pellissippi State Technical Community College’s Blount County Center seeks donations of new and gently used books for the annual Faculty Senate Book Sale in the spring.
According to Brenda Ammons, associate professor of math and book sale coordinator, more than just books will be accepted. “We’ll also take music and movies on CD, DVD and videotape, as well as puzzles and computer games,” she said. Even vinyl records can be donated, along with general interest magazines suitable for children and families but no tabloids or sensational materials, please. They will also accept computer manuals published less than five years ago and complete sets of encyclopedias.
“The community has been very generous in the past with donations,” said Ammons. “We hope people will once again clean out their closets and scour their bookshelves and media rooms for items they no longer want or need.”
The college cannot accept books that have been stored in damp areas or that are infested with bugs, water damaged or covered with dirt or mold.
Proceeds from the sale go to the Pellissippi State Foundation for student scholarships.
