Debbie Crowder, president and CEO of SunTrust’s East Tennessee region, has announced that Rick Shepard has rejoined SunTrust Bank as first vice president and commercial banking relationship manager. Shepard was employed by SunTrust from 1984 until 2005.
Shepard will be responsible for developing and managing commercial relationships in the East Tennessee market. “I am excited about returning to SunTrust and about this new opportunity with SunTrust,” said Shepard.
Shepard attended East Tennessee State University, majored in business administration and graduated from the Community College of the Air Force in 1982 with a degree in organizational management. He has completed several SunTrust University Commercial Banking Schools, Tennessee School of Banking, Omega Commercial Banking School and L.E.K. Business Banking Courses.
During a 21-year career at SunTrust Shepard served as manager of the collection and bankruptcy department, manager and lender in several retail branches, and president of the Blount County market with primary responsibilities for commercial and corporate banking.
Recently, Shepard was president and chief lending officer and director of the Foothills Bank and Trust.
Shepard is active in the community and is the past chairman of the United Way of Blount County. He is on the board of the Boy Scouts of America and the Blount County Education Foundation. Shepard and his wife, Cindy, are co-chairs of the 2008 Relay for Life event at Maryville College. Shepard is a past board member of the Blount County Chamber of Commerce. He is retired and honorably discharged from the Tennessee Air National Guard in 1999 with 20 years service and is a Desert Storm veteran.
