Scholarly awards: Maryville Scholars honored a banquet

The best of the best were honored at a banquet on April 11 at the Airport Hilton when Maryville Scholars took to the stage to receive accolades, ribbon sashes and recognition from parents and friends. The Scholars Banquet honored the top students for accomplishments in their senior, junior or sophomore year.

In addition to the scholars, Emily Hunt was recognized as 2007 MHS valedictorian and Lisa Waters as salutatorian. Josh Caraway received the 2007 Beau Alfred Award signifying service, respect, compassion and dependability. Yizhen Dong received the Lamar Alexander award.

Family, friends, faculty, staff and central office personnel gathered to recognize the students, who received sashes and plaques for their honors. Being recognized were 20 seniors, 15 juniors and 10 sophomores.
