Rain doesn't dampen enthusiasm as Maryville Farmers Market opens

It rained, but the shoppers at the Maryville Farmers Market didn’t let a little "good for the soil" raindrops keep them from their purchases. The market opened in its new location on Saturday, May 5, and will be open every Saturday until time for Foothills Fall Festival rolls around.

The market is in the parking lot between CBBC and Molecular Pathology Laboratories in the newly-created Founders Park, East Broadway. Hours are 9 a.m. until noon, or until the produce is sold out.

Market organizers plan many events during this season to highlight different produce and fruits. There are activities for children during those events, complete with prizes. Last year’s specials included a Tomato Fest, Strawberry Festival and Watermelon Day.
