Maryville High School's state championship basketball team will be honored Saturday at 10 a.m. at a public reception during Bob Gilbert's Sports Page radio program at Green Meadow Country Club.

Food and beverages will be provided by American Fidelity Bank and the club.

The Rebels, winning their first state basketball title, defeated Clarksville 69-66 in the AAA finals at Murfreesboro. Maryville is only the third school since the Tennessee Secondary Athletic Association began the football playoffs in 1969 to win both the football and basketball state championships in the same academic year, TSSAA officials said. Previous schools to do it were Austin-East in the 1986-87 school year and Montgomery Bell Academy in 2000-01.
