Gold Wings step back to benefit St. Jude

The Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter A2 Maryville, took a trip back in time recently. They turned their bikes and sites on the 1950s, all to help raise funds for the children and research needs at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

The group didn’t have to travel to Memphis to do their fund raising, however. Carpenters Middle School cafeteria was the site of the 1950s Sock Hop. The event featured ’50s style dancing, poodle skits and bobby socks, leather jackets and 1950s era music, along with hot dogs and other goodies reminiscent of the time.

In addition, there was time for a little square dancing, line dancing, motorcycle comparisons and a silent auction, with all the monies raised going to benefit the children at the hospital.

The chapter has a fund raiser for the hospital every year, said party organizers. To learn more about the GWRRA chapter, email, or call 865-257-1757.
