The benefactors of the 2007 AnimalWorks Golf Tournament would probably loved to have helped at the event, but chasing the little white balls was left up to the golfers at Royal Oaks Golf Course on Saturday, June 2.

The third charitable event for the group brought in a net income of more than $2,700, said organizers, thanks to "sponsors
and players," said tournament organizers.

Participants were treated to a free breakfast, barbecue lunch and beverages and won over $1,100 in prizes.

AnimalWorks, 3377 Regal Drive, Alcoa, is a low-cost spay and neuter organization and a no-kill animal shelter in Blount County. Since September of 2001, the organization ahs provided spaying and neutering services for more than 11,000 animals in Blount County and has found homes for more than 4,500 homeless and neglected animals.
