Among the celebrations going on to welcome in 2007 there was one where the group decided to party with a purpose. A group of friends, many of them members of the Junior Service League, gathered at the enclosed portion of The Shed at

Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson and Buell for a New Year’s Eve gala.

About 100 guests showed for the event and the room, which resembles a lodge, was decorated for the occasion.

Partygoers munched on hors d’oeuvres and while Knoxville rock band Down from Up headlined the event. Proceeds after
expenses were designated for the 2007 Toys for Tots.

Five couples planned the event. The party planners included: Mike and Angie Kirby, Bo and Robin Spears, Lynn and Whitney Cox, Steve and Laura Marsh, Troy Brown and April Garner.

Angie Galyon said the idea for the party came about when several of her friends realized the festivities they normally attended weren’t going to happen. "Because the Junior Service League wasn’t doing a gala, we decided to rent the Shed.

We raised about $3,000. Normally Junior Service League does a gala for raising money for Toys for Tots," Galyon said. "We
just wanted to have a New Year’s Eve party. We charged people to get in and any money left over (after expenses) will be donated to Toys for Tots."
