Nutrition and Cancer program offered
The Blount Memorial Cancer Center presents a teleconference on Nutrition and Cancer: Beyond Calories, Building Lean Body Mass on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 1:30-3 p.m. in conference room 1 on the center’s second floor.

The teleconference is hosted by registered dietitian Heather Pierce and is provided by the national organization CancerCare.

Anticipating the needs of aging citizens is program
City of Maryville vice mayor Tom Taylor will speak on Anticipating the Needs of Aging Citizens at this month’s "Caregiver Connection" program Thursday, Feb. 15 from 6-8 p.m. in the Blount Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Cooking low salt topic of heart program
Blount Memorial’s Heart Month Lecture Series will offer a program, "Cooking Low Salt," on Monday, Feb. 19 from noon – 1 p.m. in the Blount Memorial Hospital auditorium.

The program is presented by MorningView Village executive chef Bobbie Aplin and is part of a lecture series focusing on heart health for February’s observance of American Heart Month. Call Medical Fitness at 865-977-5636 for more information.

Surgeons host bariatric surgery lectures
In February, Blount Memorial Hospital’s ongoing Bariatric Lecture Series program features a presentations by Blount Memorial surgeons who will discuss the surgical and laparoscopic treatments of obesity.

Dr. Mark Colquitt and Dr. Jonathan Ray are the speakers at a presentation at 6 p.m. at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22 in the Blount Memorial Hospital auditorium.
